Issue 1 is Now Live!

The wait is finally over! Anathema's April 2017 issue launches today! The issue's free to read online, and available to purchase from our Store. Subscriptions are also available.

Subscription and review copies will be mailed out throughout the day, and we're happy to hear from anyone who'd like to receive a free eBook review copy. We're especially interested in hearing from diverse and marginalized reviewers, but happy to get review copies to whoever wants them.

Issue 1's line-up has original fiction from S. Qiouyi Lu ("A Complex Filament of Light"), Tony Pi ("Swan's Grace"), Ayodele Olofintuade ("The Woman With a Thousand Stars in Her Hair"), Brent Lambert ("Blood Song"), and Stephanie Chan ("Aqua Mirabilis"), as well as original non-fiction from Alexis Teyie ("Being Otherwise: Between Starshine and Clay"). And Pear Nuallak knocked it out of the park with their cover art ("Olokun's Children"), based on Ayodele Olofintuade's story.

Issue 1 ended up leaning more toward long-ish fiction, clocking in at nearly 30,000 words. And despite our intention to keep individual content capped in the vicinity of 6,000 words, a novelette nonetheless managed to make it in. We'll see if this remains an outlier or if we're looking at more novelette-length fiction in our future.

Said future being right around the corner because our next unsolicited submissions window opens in May. So no matter what work you're considering sending our way you'll have a chance to do so soon enough.

In the meantime, we'd love your feedback on the issue. You can always find us on Twitter @anathemaspec, catch up with us on Anathema's Facebook page, or reach us here via the Contact page.

We look forward to hearing from you, and enjoy the issue!
